Hello! My name is Blastocerus Dichotomus, but my friends
call me Dick for short. I am a South American Marsh Deer, the largest of the Neotropical deer occurring in seasonally wet marshes and inundated grasslands and forests of south central South America. We live in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay. Formerly some of us lived in Peru, but now we are considered to be extinct there. My species is listed as Vulnerable based on a projected population decline due to a decline in range, habitat loss, and high levels of exploitation. |
