I have been playing table tennis since 1981; my best results have been:
- 3rd place in singles at 1988 World Medical Games (Lyon)
- 4th place in singles at 1990 World Medical Games (Perpignan)
- 2nd place in doubles at 1988 World Medical Games (Lyon)
- 3rd place in doubles at 1984 (Abano Terme), 1986 (Montecatini Terme) and 1990 World Medical Games
- 12th place in singles at 1998 Italian Veteran Championship (Savigliano)
"...the never forgotten wonderboy, who to became a great player must be ready to fight, also in life" I collect books about the history of this sport; I owe 87 items and in 1999 I wrote in Italian, together with G. Malisani, "Una racchetta rossa dietro la vetrina (A red bat in the shop window)",
a book about the history of Italian table tennis with a lot of Italian and World statistics. This book was published by Cartografica Artigiana Ferrara in 1999 and costs 15 L.Sterling to send to Fabio Colombo, C.P.181, 6996 Ponte Cremenaga, TI, Switzerland.
Contents of "A red bat in the shop window"
- Chapter 1: brief notes on the history of table tennis in Italy and profiles of the best Italian players and of the best foreigners which were in Italy either as active players or as coaches of our national teams.
- Chapter 2: list of the winners of our national championships: 1st , 2nd, 3rd, 4th category, veterans and youth (team and individual titles).
- Chapter 3: list of the first eight in national tournaments; Italian rankings and data about our national team championships from 1947 to 1998.
- Chapter 4: results of Italy and of Italian players in the most important international events.
- Chapter 5: international results including World and European Championships, Asian Games and Championships, World Cup, European Top 12, some International Championships; world rankings from 1929 to 1998 and list of medal winners (winners of medals in team events only have not been considered) at World Championships and at Olympic Games with points (gold = 3, silver = 2, bronze = 1) for each player. Who are the greatest players ever?
- Supplement: personal files of the best athletes actually playing in Italy and of some no longer active players.
Together with other people I founded "The Table Tennis Collector", a magazine for the collectors of items related to table tennis. The subscription is 10 L. Sterling for 3 issues/year to send to Gerald Gurney, Guildhall, Great Bromley, Colchester, Essex, England CO7 7TU.
I contributed to the book "A Bibliography of Table Tennis Publications" by J.W.M. (Hans) Kreischer, which lists about 1000 publications on this sport.
Before table tennis, I used to be an amateur middle distance runner.
Fabio Colombo (1.67 m. x 61 kg):
1. "Off into a world of his own. You can't stop the clouds."
2."The pack is far behind..." Winning 1977 high school cross-country championship.

I have visited several countries: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lichtenstein, Netherlands, Portugal, Principate of Monaco, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Bahamas, Brasil, Mexico, United States (California, Florida), Cabo Verde, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Philippines, Thailand.I suggest reading the following books:
-James, Jongeward - Born to win (Transactional analysis with Gestalt experiments)

-Harris, Harris - Staying OK
Miniauto Collection I like mini auto models and own several items, mostly 1/43 rd scale cars, with particular interest in Vanwall F.1 cars. Here's the list.
