| "Colgo l'occasione per raccontarvi di uno strano ritrovamento avvenuto a Porto
Garibaldi (Ferrara) sul molo vicino a qualche cassetta di polistirolo che presumibilmente conteneva
pesce. L'oggetto in questione è un pettine. Inizialmente, essendo ricoperto di alghe sembrana un comune pettine nostrano, un glabra od un
opercularis, ma poi dopo averlo accuratamente pulito ho notato che non assomigliava per nulla ai pettini che si trovano comunemente nei nostri
mari. La colorazione è giallo chiaro con costolature fini di colore marrone
scuro. L'ho portato quindi dal mio amico Paolo Albano per cercare di capire cosa potesse essere, e da un confronto con le foto di una
monografia sui pettini (Rombouts, 1991) abbiamo con certezza appurato che il pettine è un
Chlamys lischkei (R. W. Dunker, 1850); atlantico, areale Argentina/Uruguay."
Ecco quanto scriveva l'amico Flavio Favero sulla BBS-SIM nell'aprile 2001. In questa sede cogliamo l'occasione per presentare le immagini di quell'esemplare. E' certamente curioso rinvenire specie esotiche per i nostri porti o spiagge, ma talvolta capita e non è questo né il primo né l'ultimo caso (come tra breve vedrete...). Se altre volte si è trattato di specie che si sono ben ambientate nei nostri mari (Rapana venosa, Anadara inaequivalvis, Musculista senhousia, Xenostrobus securis), altre, come questo, si tratta di un semplice e occasionale apporto antropico. |
"I
wish here to tell you about a strange encounter happened to me in Porto
Garibaldi (Ferrara, Emilia Romagna, North-Eastern Italy) near boxes
which contained fish. It is a pecten. At the beginning, it looked
like a locally common species like Chlamys glabra or C.
opercularis, but cleaning it from encroustations and weeds, I
understood it was not a Mediterranean species. Its colour is yellowish
with brown radial ribs. I took it to my friend Paolo Albano to
have his opinion on its identification and after consulting the
Rombouts' monography (1991) we concluded it is a Chlamys lischkei (R.W.
Dunker, 1850); Atlantic Ocean, distributed off Argentina and
Uruguay."
This is what my friend Flavio Favero wrote on BBS-SIM in April 2001. Here we present photos of that specimen. It is certainly interesting to find such exotic species on our beaches or harbours, but it sometimes happens and this is not the first nor the last case (as you will soon see...). Some other times exotic species have established themselves in the Adriatic Sea (Rapana venosa, Anadara inaequivalvis, Musculista senhousia, Xenostrobus securis), some others, like this one, it is just an occasional anthropic supply. |
